FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, and is the process by which files are uploaded to a remote host (server) for use elsewhere. FTP allows you to transfer files (upload or download) from computer to computer.

In the past, the FTP process could be very technical and laborious but today, there are many services providing user-friendly interfaces and "client accounts" to keep your files from mingling with other clients' files. The need for burning files onto a CD or other media storage is gone - you can send them directly from your computer to our FTP account.
